    Description

168th Aero Squadron Pilots badge.  This badge is most likely US issue and it is REAL.  (See below on the "experts")
The 168th Aero Squadron was a
    United States Army Air Service
    unit that fought on the
    Western Front
    during
    World War I
    .
The squadron was assigned as a Corps Observation Squadron, performing short-range, tactical reconnaissance over the IV Corps,
    United States Second Army
sector of the Western Front in France, providing battlefield intelligence.
    [3]
The squadron saw limited combat, and with Second Army's planned offensive drive on
    Metz
    cancelled due to the
    1918 Armistice with Germany
, the squadron was assigned to the
    United States Third Army
    as part of the
    Occupation of the Rhineland
in Germany. The squadron returned to the United States in July 1919 and was demobilized.
The squadron was never reactivated and there is no current
    United States Air Force
    or
    Air National Guard
    successor unit.
This sale is for this 168th Aero Squadron badge only.  If others show up in the picture it is for scale purposes only.  You wouldn't believe the heat I'm getting from so called experts on these badges.  They tell me they're wrong but won't share their information.
    Everything
I look up on the fakes keeps saying these baby's are REAL!!!  I'm no stranger to early aviation items and have a broad knowledge of militaria, but I do consult experts on occasion and they are very honest and free with their information and explanations and I'M NOT GETTING THAT KIND OF LOVE from these experts and to me, that's a RED FLAG.  I've run into this sort of conduct in the art business where an art dealer is trying to protect his client list, but never militaria,... Never until now at least.
I had an "Expert" collector tell me this 168th wing was made in France out of a cheap French copper coin because he has one.  Yeah?  Like the US Army late in the war when the 168th was formed didn't have every conceivable piece of equipment bought and paid for.   Early aviation accessories in early war were often made in country (except for pilots wings) like the other two aero squadron pieces I have up, but usually not late war.  I think the experts talked themselves out of these items when they came up because everyone knew about them, trash talked them down but NEVER SAID WHY.  WHY?  BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW THEMSELVES.
    HERE IS MY FINAL REPLY TO THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES WHO CLAIM THEY ARE EXPERTS AND HAVE NOTHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO SHARE.  TO WIT;
The only thing I've seen as far as fakes do not resemble what I have in the least, other than that, all you experts keep genuflecting to some phantom expert named "***" (don't want to get sued) who doesn't talk to anyone and offers no reasons why what I bought is fake.  Now if you want to talk about Elvis, you should ask "***" the phantom expert.
When the "experts" want to compare it to something they have already proven but won't share it with anyone outside their special little group THAT IS A MAJOR RED FLAG and an admission they are a bunch of cons.  Never have I been subject to such hypocrisy and self dealing.  I'm shocked what you might think is a community of WWI aviation experts who won't share their knowledge is no knowledge at all.   That is not only my opinion, but the opinion of every expert in any field I know, including myself.  I am America's leading expert on Revolutions, and if someone asks me a question and wants to know why, I will share with them.  I'm writing the book and it will be FREE.
Now, what has "***" your expert written, what have you written?  All you have told me is that what I have is fake, given me a 1946 date with no explanation that is most definitely incorrect (which you probably got from "***" or some other "expert).
You want proof?  I want proof.  It's a two way street and I'm happy with the badges no worries.  I've dealt with self important hypocrite cons before and have no problem dealing with them again.  I guess I'll have to post the performance of all you hypocrites but I will leave out names so I don't get sued, but I've never in my life seen a bunch of irreputable closed mouthed "experts" supported by their "marks" who've they've taken to the cleaners and don't have the brains nor spine to know they've been "taken."
These badges are rarer than hens teeth and this one is an original badge of the 168th.  I imagine someone will argue for or against but I stand by it and guarantee it to be original to the 168th.  All sales are final and there are no returns unless you can come up with a recognized expert in the field of WWI Aviation collectables WITH PROOF to countermand my guarantee.  Then only once this original item has been insured, shipped, received and confirmed as the original item I shipped, by me, delivered signature required.  Sorry to be firm on this but I, and others, have found this auction service to NOT honor their fiduciary duty too often to the sellers who foot the bill.  It's not you and not me, but them.  I'm sure you understand.
