Finally selling after a few years owning. Really loved this setup. Gives a beautiful, soft anamorphic look, but can be sharp if you adjust your taking lens correctly. Note: I AM NOT INCLUDING ANY TAKING LENSES WITH THIS. For this to work properly, you will need to purchase a separate taking lens. I usually suggest the Helios 58mm, super takumar 35 and 50mm lenses, etc. All of those options can be had relatively cheaply from eBay or Amazon. I am including one adapter ring that will fit onto those types of taking lenses and allow them to be attached to the anamorphic housing. This effectively allows the unit to function as a stand alone anamorphic lens. It works great on sets and run and gun shooting. Though, you do need to have some sort of focus pulling setup rigged to properly be able to pull focus. It is also probably wise to buy a lens support system like the one in the pictures. Any cheap lens support off Amazon should work fine. The full setup is as follows:
Isco Ultrastar Red 2x Anamorphic projector scope
Rapido Technology Front variable diopter FVD-16A
Rapido Technology Front Metal Jacket FMJ-16
I’ve attached some screenshots to show the look you can get out of it. Most of those screenshots were done with the super takumar 50mm. The lens doesn’t horizontally flare as much as it has the anamorphic bloom look. It will horizontally flare if a light is shooting right down the barrel, but it isn’t drastic. You can place a fishing line behind the rear element of the anamorphic lens to get better horizontal flares. I did that every so often when I wanted it more stylized.
Let me know if you have any questions! Am hoping to find this lens a great new home :)
