    MEUSE-ARGONNE OFFENSIVE IN FRANCE.
    AFTER HIS PLATOON SUFFERED HEAVY CASUALTIES AND THREE OTHER NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS HAD BECOME CASUALTIES, CORPORAL YORK ASSUMED COMMAND. FEARLESSLY LEADING SEVEN MEN, HE CHARGED, WITH GREAT DARING, A MACHINE GUN NEST WHICH WAS POURING DEADLY AND INCESSANT FIRE UPON HIS PLATOON.
    AS A RESULT OF HIS HEROIC FEAT 28 ENEMY GERMANS WERE KILLED, THE MACHINE GUN NEST WAS OVER-RUN, RESULTING IN FOUR GERMAN OFFICERS AND ONE HUNDRED-TWENTY-EIGHT (128) ENEMY ENLISTED MEN, AS WELL AS 30+ ENEMY MACHINE GUNS WERE CAPTURED.
