Original WWI US Army Dog Tag - 1st Lieutenant 538th Engineer Service Batt. AEF
Great original WWI dog tag. 35mm. 1910 model. The 538th Engineer Service Battalion was organized in May 1918 and moved overseas in August.  It was disbanded in December following the armistice. So, was only in existence for a extremely brief period. 1st. Lt. Stuart Wilson, was originally a Private with the 112th Engineer Service Battalion in France from early in the war. His dog tag from that unit is also listed, he held an enlisted service number of 121.
